Winter draws near - time to check your gear for repair or replace! It's also time to book your trip to the Outpost! there are prime weeks still available!
Here's a sample of the progress made on the last shift.
The crew is hard at work on the LQ Outpost and Shannon and I decided to hike in on the weekend for a visit. While the weather forecast called for only a "40%" chance of showers with a possible late afternoon thunderstorm, we hiked in through 100% rain, sleet and snow! No photos were taken that day although the crew worked a solid 12 hours. Kudos!
The next day dawned clear and photos were taken. Here they are.
The LQ Outpost will be open for the 2017 ski season! We've already got some reservations but there's still lots of availability. This will not be a full service lodge with amenities like Valkyr Lodge and Hilda Hut. This cabin is built for the hardcore DIY ski touring crowd! Contact us for more information.
OK enough with the talk already...the Lequereux Outpost is getting built this summer and fall! Construction has started and we're getting ready for the walls to go up. Here are some photos of the early stages. There will be major progress over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned.
Without a doubt this has been one of the finest early seasons in recent memory! The slide-ability and stability have been super good and our guests are making the most of it. Here are some photos of the group at Hilda over New Years.
Last spring we hosted Whitefish, Montana's Ridge Mountain Academy at Valkyr Lodge for the capstone trip of their semester. They brought in Frederick Reimers to write the story for Skiing Magazine and it was published in their 2016 Adventure Guide issue. (See below for a link to the article).
Articles about this program were also published in Backcountry Magazine's 2016 Travel Guide.
We're happy to have been a part of Ridge Mountain Academy's innovative gap year program.
We'e in our shoulder season now while the snow melts up at the lodge. We re-open July 1 and while there still may be snow around there will be abundant flowers on the exposed slopes and lower elevation hikes. This is a great time to be in the alpine while the birds like the Fox Sparrow and Hermit Thrush are still singing. It's so lovely to wake up to these beautiful bird songs!
We'd like to give a big shout out to Northwest Mountain Experience for providing us with excellent ski guiding this winter. Thanks Dan for helping to make a challenging ski season a success! Thanks for sharing the photos of last weeks trip trip to Valkyr Lodge with Ridge Mountain Academy.

Product Testing at Valkyr Lodge – trewgear.com Blog www.trewgear.com In mid-March I (along with fellow co-founders John and Chris and a group of great friends) headed to the Valkyr Lodge in the Selkirk Range of British Columbia. One week prior, our intended destination was the Hilda Hut, but given the, ummmm, less than wintery winter in BC, the hut owners (Shelly and…
