"Ridge Moms" When she's not traveling the world in search of fresh adventures you will find Barrett and her family hot lapping Ridge pow or surfing the area beaches. 20 year Legend status
TYLER REID will speak on Friday December 2, 2016 at the Red Lion Inn Port Angeles at 7:00 PM about his historic May 2016 summit of the Northeast Ridge of Mt. Everest with wife Melissa Arnot. Melissa became the first American woman to summit Mt. Everest without supplemental oxygen.
Unlike most modern attempts Mellissa and Tyler did their climb without any media presence until their return, when it became national news. Tyler will tell the complete story of the adventure, including why no oxygen, why they chose the northeast ridge, and why they chose to do it with little social media fanfare.
Without oxygen, Everest becomes much more dangerous. More than a third of all deaths on Everest can be linked to people trying to climb without oxygen. Only six other women have summited without oxygen. This was Melissa’s sixth summit. Only one other woman has summited Everest more often. This was Tyler’s first attempt on Everest.
Tyler grew up on the Olympic Peninsula climbing and backcountry skiing in the Olympic Mountains from the age of 13. Tyler founded Pacific Alpine Guides in 2011, with a vision of creating inspiring programs in remote mountains around the world. He is an AMGA Certified Ski Guide, AIARE avalanche instructor, and a G3 Gear athlete. He has pioneered numerous first ski descents in the Olympic Mountains and Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.
MOre information can be found at www.melissaarnot.com, www.pacificalpineguides.com, and www.hurricaneridge.com.
Admission to the event is a suggested $10 with all proceeds benefiting the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Club. Food and drinks will be available.

Fall update, It's not fall anymore!!!. Before Thanksgiving weekend we had 0 inches of snow and now we have about 4 feet. Not bad for 4 days of work by one of our major sponsors, Ullr and Co LLC. Stay tuned for our Winter update coming up soon.
We would like to say thank you to everyone who came out, volunteered, donated to or helped out in anyway for this years Winterfest. It was an amazing night.
It looks like the snow pack is starting to build and we are putting the final touches in on the hill to get ready for this season. Our first day of scheduled operation is Dec 4th weather permitting. We need at least 3 feet of well compacted snow to begin operations. That can come in a long series of small storms or 1 big one. So let the countdown begin, start the snow dances and will see you on the hill. Soon!!!
