A junior racer in the start of the annual Denis Cup GS. This race is named in honor of Daniel Denis and his family who have been loyal supporters of the ski area and the ski racing programs for decades.
Remember when most road signs had mileage? This sign shows Boston as 117 miles away and in the early 60's we attracted many skiers from eastern Massachusetts. With the building of the Interstate highway system in the mid 60's, the Boston skiers began heading up Route 93. However, with the advent of the Thunder Mountain Bike Park, the Thunderbolt, whitewater rafting, zip lining, and our other outdoor adventures, the Boston folks are returning to Charlemont. "If we built it, they will come." #throwbackthursday

The panels in our 500 kW solar field are now positioned at a very steep angle to capture as much sunlight as possible. The steep angle also permits any falling snow to slide off more easily. These panels, along with our 900 kW wind turbine, are a source of renewable energy that we need for our snowmaking effort.
Last February, Kirk Dwyer, Burke Mountain Academy's headmaster, visited Berkshire East while coaching one his students. Today, Mikaela Shiffrin, another one of Kirk's student/athletes, won the Audi FIS World Cup slalom at Killington. Congratulations from all of us.

Thunder Mountain's founder Art Parker always gave his best effort to promote his newly built area whenever possible. In this 1961 promotional photo, Art seems buoyed by an unexpected 32 inch snowfall. It will happen again this season! #throwbackthursday
